Project Area: Mexico: Agua Prieta

Agua Prieta is located across the border from Douglas, AZ., which is approximately a 2 1/2 hour drive from Tucson.

• Partnering Organization

World Relief works with an organization called Concern International located in Muskegon, MI.  This organization directs the work which has consisted of helping build a school, small houses, and most currently working on group homes at Brazos de Amor (Arms of Love) orphanage.

• Arms of Love Orphanage

The orphanage originally had two dormitories, one for the boys and one for the girls. The recently completed group home has two dormitory style rooms that hold 8 and 12 children.  The second home is currently being built. The total number of children being serviced at this time is 54 with 36 being 8 or under. The number continues to grow as does the need.  Many of the children are placed in the orphanage because their parents are either in jail, drug addicts, or just simply can’t provide for them. Some have been living with relatives that simply can’t take care of them anymore. A few are truly orphans but all are needy. World Relief is involved at Agua Prieta because of that need. Many more children are waiting for a place to receive a hot meal, a warm bed, security, love, and a Christian example.

• Prayer request for the brotherhood concerning the orphanage

1. That the Lord will continue to provide willing workers to go on work teams.
2. Provide Godly couples to become house parents and mentors.
3. Possible scholarship fund to help further the education of these children.
