Long and Short Term Positions

Casa Vida y Esperanza
Magdalena de Kino, Sonora, Mexico

LONG-TERM POSITIONS

Long-term positions at Casa Vida y Esperanza (CVE) are classified as periods of duration longer than 6 months.  For any position less than 6 months, the individual does not need to go through the Mission Committee application process.  For more information on short-term service, please see below.

Individuals interested in serving at CVE for time periods longer than 6 months should first fill out the Interest Form (Click here) and send it to CVEmexico@gmail.com for more information on the current positions available.  It is encouraged that individuals interested in these positions first meet with their elder before moving on to the next step of contacting and corresponding with CVE, and then the Mission Committee.

Most long-term positions begin with a commitment of 6 months to a year of service. The amount of time to be served, and the exact location where one will be sent is determined through the application process of the Mission Committee.

Individuals interested in serving long-term are encouraged to improve/begin Spanish language training skills.  Although the time frame for the application process may vary, beginning language studies immediately will help prepare for a future position in missions.

AVAILABLE LONG-TERM POSITIONS

Currently, Casa Vida y Esperanza is looking for men and women to serve as Mentors and Houseparents in on-site staff positions.  Job descriptions for both follow.  As future needs for long-term staff are known, we will update our available positions list.

Mentors – single men and women who live on campus (in the respective boy’s or girl’s dormitories) and are responsible for the mentoring, spiritual guidance, care, and discipline of the children.  Mentors have a 24-hour responsibility with the children.

Houseparents – married couples who will live in the perimeter houses on campus (additional housing that is in the process of being built at this time), and serve as a family unit for children.  The Houseparent program is still taking shape at the moment, but we ask that those couples interested would prayerfully consider serving within the next year, and contact us at CVEmexico@gmail.com.  Beginning language training is also recommended.

SHORT-TERM POSITIONS

Short-term positions are defined as those positions with a duration period of less than 6 months.  It is not necessary to go through the Mission Committee to apply for these positions.  Individuals interested should fill out the Interest Form (Click here) and send it to CVEmexico@gmail.com.  As with the long-term positions, it is encouraged that individuals first meet with their elders to discuss their interest in serving.  Correspondence and contact with CVE personnel will then follow to determine the specifics of the short-term position.

AVAILABLE SHORT-TERM POSITIONS

Most short-term positions are a result of the correspondence between CVE personnel and the individual, and specifics are decided through that interaction.  This includes (but is not limited to) Specific Volunteer Needs (such as Special Projects Overseers).  A brief description follows.

Special Projects Overseers – volunteers whose term of service is variable, depending upon the project. These positions are specific and skill-oriented. They are available only after a request is made by CVE for a project to be accomplished by a Specific Volunteer Needs worker.  These volunteer needs will be updated regularly.

Specific Volunteer Needs:

  • Skilled Laborers
  • Welders
  • Drywallers
