Lifeline Orphanage

The Lifeline Orphanage in Croix-des-Bouquet, just outside of Port-Au-Prince, was the original focus of the Lifeline relief efforts. Nicole Dieudonne, director of the orphanage, oversees the day to day operations of the facility along with her husband, Daniel, Pastor of the Bethel Church in Croix-des-Bouquet. Inspiration for the orphanage came from Nicole's mother, who during her lifetime would feed and care for orphaned children under a large tree that was located nearby. In 1996, 4 acres of land were purchased and buildings were constructed. A block wall was added around the property to provide proper security.

Today the orphanage is home to nearly 100 children on an ongoing basis. The children are taught onsite in a school building to provide them with a quality, Christian-based education and to prepare them for independent living as they grow older. Over the years, some children have been adopted and others have stayed at the orphanage to help care for the younger ones newly arriving. Some additional children from the neighborhood outside of the orphanage now also attend the school, and all students are fed a nourishing noon-time meal each day.
